Pep Guardiola of Man City has taken notice of Mika Marmol of Las Palmas and may make a move for the former Barcelona player this summer.

Todofichajes claims that Man City is interested in the centre back because the Premier League winners want to bolster their defensive options in time for the 2024–2025 season.

The Manchester United team had nearly faultless defence in the previous season, but this one has been the opposite.

For the majority of the season, City has struggled to maintain clean sheets and has let up a lot of goals. This might cause Guardiola to reconsider his options, in which case Marmol might be brought in.

Marmol came to Las Palmas last summer from Andorra, where the 22-year-old’s skills were obtained for just €1.5 million. However, Mundo Deportivo adds that Barcelona has a 50% sell-on fee from any upcoming deals.

The defender joined the Catalan club’s junior programme and left in 2022 after making his senior debut in 2021.

Man City can definitely afford the €30 million that Las Palmas are reportedly want for in exchange for the defender, though the Premier League team will attempt to negotiate a lesser price.
