Liverpool’s January transfer plans have been altered, with the club prioritizing the signing of a defender after Kostas Tsimikas broke his collarbone.
During the match against Arsenal, the Liverpool defender collided with Bukayo Saka, causing him to slip and clatter into Jurgen Klopp, who was standing on the touchline.
Saka apologized after the game, and Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Tsimikas will be out for a long time.
Andy Robertson, the Reds’ first-choice left-back, is also out after undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury sustained while on international duty for Scotland.
Robertson is expected to return in January, but the Merseyside club expects Tsimikas to be out for some time.
According to the Mirror, Liverpool will enter the January transfer window looking for a defender.
The club’s injured defenders do not stop with Robertson and Tsimikas. Joel Matip tore his ACL and could miss the rest of the season.
Liverpool may look to sign a versatile defender like Joe Gomez to provide cover across the defense.
Klopp is keeping an eye on Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, who is 22 years old. He is primarily a left-sided centre-back, but he can also play left-back. His adaptability is what makes him an excellent fit for them.
Inacio made his Portugal debut this year and has scored twice in five appearances.

Expert Fabrizio Romano has discussed how the Reds can obtain Inacio.
“Liverpool have also been one of a number of teams linked with Goncalo Inacio, but the only way to sign him is to pay his €60m release clause to Sporting and no one has approached Sporting until now,” Romano said.
