The complicated dynamic between Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins has been one of the most significant developments for the Golden State Warriors this season. With the two players bringing many of the same strengths and weaknesses, Steve Kerr has typically tried to keep them apart, which only leaves a limited amount of time for one or the other.
Tim Kawakami of The Athletic broke down all of the possibilities in a recent article, including the increased possibility of Wiggins being traded.Side note: Though I previously stated that the Warriors might be hesitant to trade Wiggins so soon after signing a relatively low-cost contract extension specifically to stay with this team, I’ve since learned that this is not the case.
be a significant impediment to the Warriors exploring Wiggins’ trade market,” Kawakami wrote. “Especially if he can’t play with Kuminga and the Warriors decide that Kuminga is their full-time small forward.”
While this does not guarantee that Wiggins will be traded, it appears that the possibility is much more open now than it has been since Wiggins was an All-Star for the Warriors.
This will undoubtedly be a situation to keep an eye on, especially if the Warriors’ record continues to disappoint. Golden State could be active at the trade deadline.
