Charles Barkley on Auburn’s Championship Hopes: “This Is the Time, Boys; Don’t F* It Up”
Auburn legend Charles Barkley is fired up about his alma mater’s chances in the upcoming March Madness tournament. As the Tigers enter the tournament as the No. 1 team in the country, Barkley believes this could be their moment to capture an NCAA championship.
Speaking on Auburn’s transformation under head coach Bruce Pearl, Barkley praised the program’s rise to national prominence.
“Bruce Pearl has done an unbelievable job. He’s taken Auburn from being just another SEC school to a powerhouse. Look at where they are now—No. 1 in the country. The best time to win is when you have all the pieces, and this team has them.”
Barkley, never one to hold back, had a strong message for the players heading into the tournament:
“This is the time, boys; don’t f** it up.”*
He emphasized that Auburn has everything it needs—talent, coaching, depth, and experience—to make a serious championship run.
“When you’re the No. 1 team, you have a target on your back, but that’s the price of being great. If these guys play their game and stay locked in, there’s no reason Auburn shouldn’t be cutting down the nets in April.”
