A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles made a calculated decision not to speak with the media following Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Brown told reporters on Wednesday that he did it because he would be “classified as a monster” if he expressed his frustration after another difficult loss for the team.
Brown delivered a brief message in the locker room following the Eagles’ 35-31 loss to the Cardinals.
“I’m not about to talk,” he declared. “There’s nothing to say.”
Sirianni called a wide receiver screen on 3rd-and-20 late in the fourth quarter against the Cardinals. Brown caught the pass for a five-yard gain, but the Eagles were forced to settle for a field goal.
Tensions have been high in Philadelphia as the team nears the end of the regular season. During a Christmas Day win over the New York Giants, head coach Nick Sirianni was seen yelling at multiple players on the sideline, including Haason Reddick and DeVonta Smith.
This season, Brown has been seen getting into heated arguments with teammates. During a Week 2 win over the Minnesota Vikings, he had to be separated from Jalen Hurts on the sidelines.
The two-time Pro Bowler has also chastised fans on social media for believing they “know everything” about the offense.
All of this is almost certainly the result of the Eagles’ ongoing struggles as they prepare for the playoffs. They have four losses.
