PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown broke his silence on his on-field frustrations on Wednesday. Two weeks ago, Brown refused to speak to the media, saying he was taught that if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything.
After the team and the loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a depressed Brown slowly left the field. But he later refused to speak to the media for the second week in a row.
He was targeted just once in the second half and hasn’t rushed for more than 100 yards in a month. Three days after Raama’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Eagles receiver explained why he was so disappointed. “I don’t just connect negative with negative so you can write more negative” Brown said. “That’s why you watch the game. You already know. So I can’t say anything else – and I’m not trying to make it worse than it is.
I wasn’t angry about the phone call or anything, I was upset that my partner fell. I saw him rolling and I know I need [DeVonta Smith]. That and that was it. People may not believe that, but I don’t care” he added. Last week against the Cardinals, Brown only saw the ball once in the second half.
Brown said his relationship with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni remains strong and he said coaching is not an issue. andquot;People say I mess with Nick,andquot; Brown said. andquot;I’m not angry with Night. And I’m not mad at anyone. We have a great relationship and I have a lot of respect for Nick. …we’re driving with Nick. We ride with Brian [Johnson] and quot; Brown also apologized to his teammates for interrupting during a difficult time for the team.
He also recently organized a trip to his “escape room” To the Eagles, hoping to build chemistry and friendship. andquot;Heand#039;s taking a leadership role, accepting some things that were there, and I appreciate his courage to do that in front of the team,andquot; Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said. But was Brown’s apology necessary? “It was on his heart, so he did what he thought was right” Hurts said. “We’ll always support what he or any other player feels”
Brown, Hurts and the Eagles have one more regular season game to figure out what has gone wrong. They’ll play Sunday in the Meadowlands in the Giants — their final tune-up before the postseason begins
