Jalen Hurts Over Missing Pro Bowl: What’s Wrong?

It’s been a disappointing postseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, and most fans coming into the season expect a redemption trip for the reigning NFC champions. But now the battles are back to pay Jalen Hurts personally.

After a season where Hurts rose to stardom and looked like one of the best young faces in the league, the Eagles’ signal caller finished the season as the MVP runner-up and missed a Pro Bowl appearance this season. but did he deserve the credit?

Despite Andre Swift’s arguably better pass catcher and the addition of Julio Jones as a WR3 behind DeVonta Smith, Hurts averaged fewer yards per game and threw eight more interceptions this season.

Hurts’ struggles to protect the football and a regressive defense this season were the duo that ultimately derailed the team and overall success. But having said that, he was still a lowly Pro Bowler this season. 4,444 4,444 NFC quarterbacks were drafted instead of Hurts, including the San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy and the Dallas Vakers’ Dak Prescott, both of whom beat Philly this season. However, the quarterback picked third was Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is the signal caller with the worse record this season. He lost to the Eagles in Week 5 and scored 14 fewer goals.

Did Hurts have an MVP season? No. Did he deserve to be a Pro Bowler? Yes. He has good reason to be at Stafford, at least.

At the end of the day, though, it doesn’t matter because the goal is the Super Bowl, and if he and Philadelphia’s defense make the playoffs, they can’t be out of reach. Pro Bowl anyway..
