The Philadelphia Eagles have now lost four of their last five and things have gotten tight for the organization. After starting the season 10-1 after playing in the Super Bowl a year ago, the Eagles seemed poised to repeat. They are now down for the fifth straight season and are unlikely to win the division except for the Dallas Cowboys’ loss
The Eagles’ offensive and defensive struggles have contributed to their recent losses, highlighted by their latest 35-31 comeback loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles defense played a big role, allowing four touchdowns as Kyler Murray and James Conner marched down the field. The Eagles’ pass defense has been leaky all season and ranks fifth in the NFL. However, recent defensive losses have hurt the team. Philly was ranked #1 for most of the year, but fell out of the top ten.
While these types of struggles and usually losses are difficult for any team, security Kevin Byard noted that it is especially noticeable in Philadelphia due to the coverage of the team and the leaks coming from the building.
“Coming from Tennessee, which is definitely a smaller market, I feel like keeping things in-house was very easy,” Byard said. “It’s very different here. I feel like there are leaks everywhere ... it can be very divisive in some ways. It can force players or someone to be quite defensive, Rob Maadd.
There’s been a lot of talk about Philadelphia, including rumors of star receiver A.J. Rusk.. Brown and Byard both came to the Eagles after trades from the Titans, but received significantly less press attention. Because the Eagles’ Overall success in the last two seasons, it is no surprise that the Eagles have more eyes on them, but it is important that the team does not let things get out of hand in the playoffs..
