Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts talked about his hand injuries after the team’s loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. Hurts hurt his hand in the second quarter and had to go to the medical tent.
Hurts returned to the game after being evaluated by medical staff, but was benched by other Eagles starters as the Giants took a 24-0 lead. Hurts was one of several key players injured on Sunday.
Wide receiver A.J. Brown left the game with a knee injury. His injury isn’t considered serious, but then again, the Eagles said that about DeVonta Smith last week before dumping him against the Giants. Sydney Brown is believed to have torn her ACL.
Sore, not sure when he will play again for the Philadelphia Eagles.
That doesn’t bode well for the Eagles ahead of next week’s Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hurts’ postgame update wasn’t promising either.
According to EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Smith called his injuries “unfortunate”:
“It’s a very unfortunate and crazy thing,” Hurts said. “I’ve never experienced anything like this.“
“It popped out.“
Head coach Nick Sirianni and Hurts unsure if Hurts will start for Eagles in Wild Card round against Buccaneers:
When asked about Hurts’ status for the upcoming Tampa Bay game, Sirianni hinted at Hurts’ return. injury on Sunday, but it didn’t cause anything.
“He came back and played, he’s tough as hell,” Sirianni said. “When he got hurt, he came back [and] broke it. So we’ll see. I haven’t talked to the trainers or the doctors yet. We’ll see.“
Hurts was equally unequivocal about his position in the postseason.
“I’m taking it one day at a time.“
Eagles quarterback Marcus Mariota was 13. 20 for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday’s game with Hurts on the bench. If Hurts can’t play against the Buccaneers, the Eagles would have Mario and Baker Mayfield.
It doesn’t matter who the Eagles play next at quarterback. They need a healthy Brown and Smith to play this weekend. Or it’s a short final for the Eagles..
