The Niners drafted veteran Casey Hayward, who will miss 2023 after his 2022 season was shortened by a shoulder injury.
San Francisco has had to work out some cornerbacks since announcing they signed cornerback Terrance Mitchell to the practice squad. Defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu was also added to the practice squad.
Mitchell is an eight-year veteran who signed with the 49ers on July 26, 2023, but was released on August 9. In 2021 and 2022, Mitchell started 56 games with the Houston Texans and Tennesee Titans.
Okuayinonu played in six games with the Titans in 2022. He is listed at 6’1″, 260 pounds. He was an undrafted free agent out of Maryland in 2022.
The corresponding moves put cornerback Jason Verrett and safety Tayler Hawkin in the injured reserve list of the practice squad.
