Despite a late collapse that turned a promising season into a minor disappointment, the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t planning any major changes this offseason, according to reports.
On Thursday’s episode of This Week in Pro Football, ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio stated that “there is no evidence” that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is in danger of losing his job:
Following a 10-1 start to the season, the Eagles went 1-5 in their final six games. The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance to win the NFC East for the second year in a row, but back-to-back losses to non-playoff teams in the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants dropped the team to the fifth seed in the NFC playoffs.
While Paolantonio appears to be confident that the Eagles will not lose,
I don’t think you should rule it out because if the organization decides it’s gotten bad there, you know, inside the building culturally, all that kind of thing, I think you should reconsider. “I think they’ve demonstrated in the past that they’re not afraid to move on,” Graziano said, citing Doug Pederson’s firing two years after winning the Super Bowl.
Sirianni has coached the Eagles to a 34-17 record, three straight playoff appearances, and a trip to Super Bowl LVII last season in three seasons in Philadelphia. It would be a huge surprise if the Eagles let him go after just one season of failure.
