Chelsea will be hoping for a much busier second half to the January transfer window with no major deals confirmed thus far for Mauricio Pochettino. Outgoings and returns have occurred however, with Ian Maatsen joining Borussia Dortmund on loan while both Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana have been recalled from respective loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Union Berlin with the latter joining Burnley on a temporary basis until the end of the season.
Signing a striker in January remains a serious possibility with the injury to Christopher Nkunku increasing the chances of a deal being completed. No concrete target has been set out by the Blues but they have been frequently linked to Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, although a transfer for either this month looks highly unlikely.
Given Chelsea’s imminent need for a new option, links to Karim Benzema have ramped up with his future at Al-Ittihad very uncertain after he was omitted from his side’s Dubai training after missing a number of sessions the previous week. Elsewhere Jordan Henderson, was another player who moved to Saudi Arabia in the summer, has been linked with a transfer away and Chelsea have been discussed as one option for the ex-Liverpool captain.
With that said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours:
Benzema to Chelsea truth
Benzema signing for Chelsea this month would be quite the shock given he only arrived in the Middle East six months ago. Nonetheless, the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are being mooted as an option on a short-term basis with Chelsea sure to be in that race.
Nicolas Jackson is set to miss the next few weeks as he will be at AFCON with Senegal and while Nkunku continues to nurse an injury, Armando Broja is the only natural no.9 option available to Pochettino currently.
