BYU Football Lands Commitment Flip from Washington WR Terrance Saryon
In a significant recruiting victory, the BYU Cougars have flipped three-star wide receiver Terrance Saryon from the University of Washington. The Evergreen High School (Vancouver, Washington) prospect announced his commitment to BYU on Monday, just weeks after the Cougars entered his recruitment .
Saryon, who had been pledged to the Huskies since mid-November, cited scheme fit and a natural sense of belonging as primary factors in his decision to flip to BYU. “One of the reasons why I chose BYU was I felt I fit in the scheme a little bit better,” Saryon told On3 . He elaborated further on his decision-making process, emphasizing the opportunity for early playing time and the welcoming atmosphere he experienced during his visit to Provo.
“I feel like I can come into coach Fesi’s (Sitake) receiver room and impact it early,” Saryon told 247Sports. “Another deciding factor for me was how natural everything was on my unofficial. It really felt like I was at home” .
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound wideout had originally chosen Washington over offers from Oregon, Illinois, California, Washington State, Colorado State, and Nevada before BYU wide receivers coach Fesi Sitake extended an offer last month . Saryon recently changed his planned June 20 official visit from Washington to BYU, signaling the shift in his recruitment .
Despite his three-star rating—currently ranked No. 892 nationally, the No. 60 athlete, and the No. 10 player in Washington according to 247Sports—recruiting analysts note Saryon is on an upward trajectory . He was a top performer at multiple offseason events, including the Avery Strong Showcase, the Under Armour Camp in Seattle, and Oregon’s Saturday Night Live event .
As a junior at Evergreen High School, Saryon posted impressive numbers: 51 receptions for 1,055 yards and 10 touchdowns . In one standout performance against Shelton High School, he hauled in 9 catches for 282 yards and 5 touchdowns . Scouting reports praise his route-running ability, quickness in creating separation, reliable hands, and versatility to play both outside and in the slot .
Saryon joins fellow wide receiver Legend Glasker (Lehi High School) in BYU’s 2026 recruiting class, which ranks among the top 25 nationally and is considered potentially the best in program history . The Cougars now have nine four-star commits in the class following recent rating updates, further solidifying BYU’s recruiting momentum in the Big 12 era .
BYU’s wide receiver room will have ample opportunity for freshmen contributions in 2026 following the departures of Chase Roberts (graduation/NFL) and Parker Kingston . The Cougars also added Oregon transfer Kyler Kasper, a 6-foot-6 wideout, to bolster the receiving corps .
With spring camp underway and the roster taking shape, Saryon’s commitment adds to the growing optimism surrounding BYU football as they prepare to build on back-to-back double-digit win seasons .
