Frank Leboeuf says the £45m Chelsea man is the only player he believes in at the moment.
Chelsea players are not too many now. Frank Leboeuf believes now.
Chelsea have been poor this season and are ninth in the Premier League.
However, one member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who has impressed this campaign is Cole Palmer. And speaking on ESPN FC, Frank Leboeuf admitted the 21-year-old is the only Chelsea player he currently expects to feature in the games.
The Blues signed him from Manchester City last summer in a £45 million deal (Evening Standard).
Palmer has scored nine goals in 17 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season. Micah Richards recently compared him to former teammate Kevin De Bruyne.
Cole Palmer is the only Chelsea player giving Frank Leboeuf hope.
Leboeuf believes in Palmer, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the players in Pochettino’s squad.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday, Leboeuf said: “Really, it was another terrible performance for me. Only Palmer gives hope that the player can become something good.
“But otherwise it’s predictable again, nothing special, they don’t create anything, they don’t change the momentum.“
Cole Palmer Chelsea’s best hope in European football
If Chelsea are to qualify for the Europa League or the Europa League at the end of the season, they need Palmer to keep up the good work.
He is their best bet and the Englishman is their match winner this season.
The Blues’ real goal is probably Champions League football, but with the club currently in ninth place, Pochettino’s side will need a miracle to finish in the top four.
It’s not good, but if Chelsea qualify for the Europa League and can win either the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup, this season won’t be a total disaster..
