Chelsea have decided to recall Cesare Casadei from his loan spell at Leicester City this week.
The 21-year-old only recently managed to work his way back into Enzo Maresca’s starting line-up as the Foxes climbed to the top of the Championship and returned to the Premier League in 2024-25.
Casadei made 25 appearances for the King Power after signing on a season-long loan in the summer, starting the last two league games. He scored a total of three goals during his time at the club.
However, Chelsea have confirmed that Casadei has been recalled, ending his time at the Foxes. According to reports, the Italian would remain in Mauricio Pochettino’s team for the season.
Chelsea currently have injury problems in midfield. Romeo Lavia (travel) and Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) are sidelined and it is not known when they will return.
Andrey Santos has been recalled from Nottingham Forest but is currently out of the pre-Olympics in Brazil and will not return until next month when his future will be decided.
On Casadei’s return, he will train with the squad on Saturday ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
He also revealed two reasons for the return of the midfielder and why he will stay with the team for the rest of the season.
Chelsea advises them to believe that “Casade has huge potential” and “can help the team immediately”..
