Update: Chelsea think their 21-year-old youngster has ‘huge potential’ and is now ready to make an impact

Chelsea believe that Cesare Casadei has a very bright future ahead of him.

So says respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Just 21-year-old Cesare Casadei spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship leaders Leicester City.

However, the box-to-box midfielder’s loan spell came to an untimely end yesterday when it was confirmed that he had been returned to Stamford Bridge.

What’s next for the young Italian?

Romano explained that Casadei immediately started training with Chelsea’s first team this weekend. Otherwise, preparations are currently underway for Tuesday’s semi-final against Middlesbrough.

The Blues apparently believe the 21-year-old has “tremendous potential”. They believe he is now ready to make an impact in the senior team.

“Cesare Casadei will start training under Mauricio Pochettino today after Chelsea decided to recall him,” Romano said on X.

“Understand, the club believes that Casadei has enormous potential and can help the team immediately.”

Cesare Casadei has huge potential
The average age of Chelsea’s squad looks set to drop further as Casadei is thrown into the mix in the second half of the campaign.

We will be interested to see if he can make an impact in the Blues squad as it seems a strange decision to end his loan.

If you’ve seen him play a lot this season, you know he’s very physically fit and there’s no denying the potential. However, he has not been a flashy starter for promotion chasers Leicester and his playing intelligence needs a lot of work.

It could be a big leap asking him to come into the Chelsea side and compete from day one. However, he is clearly appreciated..
