Laila Rouass ignited her boyfriend Ronnie O’Sullivan’s bitter feud with Ali Carter by bringing up a historic comment Carter made about his rival’s chances of beating Snooki for another world title. Rouass told the 44-year-old to “shut up” and “focus on his snooker” after the row with O’Sullivan.
The pair have had a frosty relationship for years, but tensions rose when they met in the Masters final in early January. Carter accused winner O’Sullivan of “exploding across the floor”.
O’Sullivan responded with a fiery exclamation in which he raised his middle finger and said his opponent could “sit on it”. He then said that Carter should “get his goddamn life in order.”
The public battle has been going on for weeks and O’Sullivan’s girlfriend has now targeted Carter. Rouass pointed out that the world number 10 once said that O’Sullivan would not win another world title when the racket was six under.
O’Sullivan then won in 2022 to join Stephen Hendry in holding the record for most World Cup wins.
Rouass said on Instagram: “Ali Carter said four or five years ago that Ronnie would not win another world title. What did he go and do? He went and won.
“That hasn’t aged well, Ali Carter? Now shut up and be a good boy. Focus on your snooker, not someone else’s.”
Carter was unhappy with O’Sullivan’s conduct in their Masters final, which the seven-time world champion won 10–7 on 14 January. He accused O’Sullivan of “exploding the whole floor”.
O’Sullivan was pressed by Carter’s claims at the press conference and raised his middle finger and bellowed: “I think he can sit on it. I don’t care. You know what he’s like, everybody knows what he is he is in trouble.
