The NFL’s new league year hasn’t even begun yet, but the Philadelphia Eagles are still building their roster in anticipation of the 2024 campaign.
The Eagles are adding former San Francisco 49ers running back Tyrion Davis-Price to a reserve/futures deal, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday. The 49ers selected Davis-Price in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
According to his agency, @eliteloyaltysp, the Eagles have signed RB Tyrion Davis-Price, a former 49ers third-round pick, to a reserve-future contract.
During the previous two seasons (seven games), the former LSU running back gained 120 yards on 40 runs, thus he didn’t have much of an impact with the 49ers. Late in the regular season, San Francisco dismissed Davis-Price, who was later added to their practice squad.
With the conclusion of their season, the Eagles have inked 22 players to futures contracts, including the 23-year-old running back. Lew Nichols III and Davis-Price are the only two running backs with futures contracts with the Eagles.
In training camp this summer, Davis-Price will attempt to get into the Eagles’ 53-man roster. The team may decide to rearrange their backfield with the impending free agency of veteran running back D’Andre Swift in March.
A force to be reckoned with, Davis-Price attended LSU from 2019 to 2021. He amassed 1,744 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 379 carries. At six feet one inch and 219 pounds, he possesses the bulk to be a battering ram for the Eagles’ potent ground game.
