A done deal Leicester City sign Brazilian Lucas Beraldo despite interest from elsewhere

Beraldo, 20, is a promising young Brazilian prospect who has gained a lot of attention in the last year.

This season, the defender has made 24 league appearances in Brazil’s top flight, scoring once from central defense.

Beraldo has been attracting interest for some time, and news broke last week that Sao Paulo were willing to sell the youngster, boosting Leicester City’s chances.

However, they faced competition from Zenit, which offered €18 million for Berlado.

Leicester City are now said to be willing to outbid that offer, and the youngster would prefer a move to England, with Premier League football as a likely reward next season.

Leicester City’s lead at the top of the Championship table was extended last night with a 3-2 victory over Birmingham City.

Ipswich Town are currently their closest rivals, but there is a significant gap between the top two and the other sides in the play-offs. Despite this, Enzo Maresca’s team appears to be showing no signs of complacency as they look to begin January with another significant addition.

The Foxes were relegated last season, but unlike some other teams, they handled the situation admirably and are poised to return to the top flight next season.

These kinds of performances will help them next month, when players like Beraldo will be more willing to join knowing Premier League.

League football could be just a few months away.

Leicester City’s next match is this Saturday at home against Rotherham United.
