NBC Universal, Inc. Quarterback Brock Purdy talks to reporters about his “new approach” to the 49ers’ NFC title game against the Detroit Lions.
Another 49ers wide receiver replaced Brock Purdy on defense this week after the star quarterback recently came under fire from NFL analysts.
All-Pro wideout Brandon Aiyuk clarified his views on Purdy to reporters Wednesday, sharing his thoughts on the negative buzz directed at his 24-year-old teammate.
“I really don’t talk or focus on his detractors,” Aiyuk told reporters. “Like we’re all sitting here because of him, obviously.”
Aiyuk knows firsthand what Purdy means to San Francisco, as the quarterback helped him gain 1,000-plus yards (2022 and#039;23).
Aiyuk appreciates being next to Purdy on Sunday and names three qualities he values in number 13.
“Lamb, dog, just a football player,” Aiyuk announced. “I love playing football with him. [Purdy] the reason I’m sitting here today and I feel like I have the opportunity to play my best football this weekend is because of a quarterback like him.

Monday 49ersand#039; another top designer, Deebo Samuel, took a similar defensive position for Purdy.
The Pro Bowl posted an Instagram story calling out ESPN’s Ryan Clark, who spoke at length about how the second-year quarterback can be a “First Take” product of an elite coach and teammates.
“I’ve never seen so much hate for a QB who leads the league in almost every category and #039; everyone is confused,” Samuel wrote on his Instagram story. “This [tape] doesn’t lie.”
As much as the naysayers hate to admit it, Purdy is trusted by all the right people.
Purdy has receivers at cornerback other than Hall of Famers Steve Young and Kurt Warner, which means the Iowa State product must be doing something right.
After all, Purdy’s 49ers have one home win in eight Super Bowls.
On Sunday, Purdy can make a deal with San Francisco in the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions at 3:30 p.m. at the PT Levi Stadium..
