Arsenal are actively pursuing a move for Sporting Club de Portugal’s Goncalo Inacio, proposing an innovative loan deal with a significant purchase clause.
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Goncalo Inacio from Sporting Club de Portugal on a loan deal with a large purchase clause.
According to Ataque, a supplement of Jornal de Noticias, this strategy is intended to put Arsenal ahead of other clubs vying for the highly rated defender.
The Gunners are said to have a ‘well-defined plan’ to sign Inacio in the January transfer window.
Sporting are willing to let the defender go for €60 million, the amount stipulated in his release clause. Arsenal’s proposal calls for a loan agreement until the end of the season, followed by a mandatory purchase.
Sporting, who agreed to a similar deal with Tottenham for Pedro Porro last year, is no stranger to this type of transaction. Tottenham paid €5 million for a season-long loan with a mandatory purchase clause of €40 million.
While it is unknown whether Sporting will agree to a similar arrangement for Inacio,
Arsenal is eager to move forward with their ‘well-defined’ proposal as soon as possible. The urgency stems from other prominent clubs’ interest in the defender, including Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, all of whom are keeping a close eye on Inacio’s situation.
