It’s a slow news day in Newcastle United land, or else we wouldn’t be discussing this rumour.
According to Spanish media, Liverpool and Chelsea are willing to match Newcastle’s £99 million valuation of Bruno Guimaraes.
Remember that we said this report originated in Spain, and it appears to have been started by Fichajes, who are about as reliable as a 1982 Austin Metro. So take everything with a grain of salt.
We could make things up as well, but we don’t.
It’s all because there’s a clause in Bruno Guimaraes’ contract that allows him to sign for Barcelona or Real Madrid. Which, while it has never been done,
It just feels like they saw that Darren Eales interview that has everyone panicking and decided to add fuel to the fire by digging up an old non-story and throwing some Premier League names in there to freshen it up a bit.
Even TeamTalk has jumped on board, stating that Bruno is unlikely to want to move to another Premier League club.
Bruno, we believe, will be back next season.
While we are not naive enough to believe that Bruno will stay with Newcastle until his retirement, he will not be leaving anytime soon.
He’ll want to see how next season goes, as this and last have been disappointing.
Such strange ones that it has been impossible to determine Newcastle’s true location.
If Newcastle struggles next season, Bruno may get itchy feet, but as far as January and this summer are concerned, we’re pretty confident he’ll be staying.
