After over two decades cloaked in silence, the legendary Australian doom metal band Cryptal Darkness has emerged from the shadows to announce their thunderous return: a global tour fittingly titled the “Eclipse of Despair World Tour.”
Fans of the underground will remember Cryptal Darkness as one of the darkest, most emotionally harrowing acts to emerge from the ’90s doom scene. With albums like They Whispered You Had Risen and Endless Tears, they combined mournful melody with crushing heaviness—creating a sound that was as beautiful as it was brutal. And now, with their return, they aim to resurrect the forgotten spirit of gothic doom on stages across the world.
A Reunion Long in the Making
Formed in Melbourne in 1993, Cryptal Darkness quietly disbanded in 2002, with members going on to form the critically acclaimed band The Eternal. Rumors of a reunion had long swirled in dark corners of the metal community, but few expected a full-blown resurrection—let alone a world tour.
In a cryptic social media post accompanied by a shadow-drenched teaser video, the band confirmed the news:

The Eclipse of Despair World Tour is set to begin in October 2025, with the band playing a mix of classic material and—perhaps most excitingly—new, unreleased songs.

Merch, Vinyl Reissues, and a Legacy Rekindled
Alongside the tour, vinyl reissues of Endless Tears and They Whispered You Had Risen will be released for the first time, fully remastered with updated artwork and expanded liner notes chronicling the band’s journey through grief, sorrow, and rebirth.
Exclusive tour merch, including limited-edition “Eclipse of Despair” shirts and long sleeves featuring their iconic angel imagery, will be available both online and at shows.
