Crystal Palace ended the season impressively, with players like Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Adam Wharton, and Jean-Philippe Mateta contributing significantly with goals and assists, propelling the Eagles up the Premier League table. Despite their notable contributions and Mateta’s excellent form, the club is actively seeking a new striker this summer. According to Ben Jacobs, Crystal Palace is eyeing a move for Armando Broja.
Mateta arrived at Palace in January 2021 on an initial eighteen-month loan deal, with an option to sign him permanently for £13 million at the end of his loan spell. Although he initially struggled in the Premier League with six goals in 29 appearances, his form improved significantly in the final three months of the campaign under Oliver Glasner’s management. However, the club still aims to bolster its striking options, with Broja emerging as a potential target. Jacobs suggests that Crystal Palace is one of seven teams competing for the signature of the Albania international.
Broja, who was loaned to Fulham in January following an ACL injury in November 2022, failed to secure regular playing time due to strong competition. Limited to just 81 minutes in the Premier League for Fulham, Broja’s development has stalled since his impressive loan spell at Southampton. Consequently, Chelsea may consider selling him in the upcoming transfer window.
