D’ LIONS Given the reported injury, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is not anticipated to play against the Vikings.

The Detroit Lions’ C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be out for at least one more week while he heals from a torn pectoral muscle he sustained in Week 2.

Coach Dan Campbell anticipates that safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson of the Detroit Lions will play against the Minnesota Vikings this week.

It seems that he is rather young. He’s progressing rather nicely, Campbell continued. “So, all that’s really needed to ensure he’s comfortable and ready to go is to get him more practices.” Simply said, we don’t cast him to the wolves. He’s fine, but I doubt he’ll play this week.

Gardner-Johnson suffered a torn pectoral muscle during the Lions’ Week 2 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks three months prior. For the first time this week, he went back to practice. On Wednesday, he gave an impassioned press conference in which he expressed his happiness to be joining a team that is now leading its division.

“I think I’m going to cry,” Gardner-Johnson said she was afraid she might cry. “I don’t want to speak for everyone, but when you think about it, a lot of you guys haven’t seen a conference (sic) championship. This is therefore a step in the direction of feeling victorious. In case you didn’t guess, I’m in my sixth year. I have four division victories. I don’t mean to offend, but that is the most wonderful sensation.
