Darren Bent left shocked after transfer rumour he’s hearing about Chelsea

Roberto Firmino is unlikely to return to England or join Chelsea this month.

That’s according to a speech by SPORTS expert Darren Bent.

Roberto Firmino (32) currently plays football for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League. However, he is best known for his 362 appearances for the Liverpool club.

Interestingly, the Brazilian striker has been hinted at a possible return to the Premier League.

The Telegraph suggested last week that Chelsea may need to find a short-term solution to the No.9 position by looking at Firmino or Karim Benzema.

Firmino upset by speculation. At the same time, he is quite convinced that the South American striker will not end up at Stamford Bridge as a Blues player.

“It surprised me,” Bent commented on the Firmino-Chelsea rumors on TalkSPORT.

“The reason this surprises me is because of the whole Liverpool connection. I know Rafa [Benitez] did it. But Rafa has a thick skin so he doesn’t care. But Firmino to Chelsea and Chelsea to Liverpool, that story there, they don’t like each other anyway.

“Would he go to Chelsea? I don’t see Firmino going to Chelsea, I just don’t.

“If you look at his time at Liverpool, I know he sacrificed himself for the other two, Mane and Salah. But his connecting and holding plays were arguably some of the best in the league. He wasn’t prolific, was he? He scored goals. But he was not fertile. Going to Chelsea, I’m not sure that’s what they need. They need someone who’s going to put the ball in the net.

Roberto Firmino to Chelsea
We agree that we can’t imagine this deal happening.
However, we’ll wait and see if the transfer interest ramps up during the remainder of the January window.

Our preference would be for Chelsea to bring in a proven goalscorer before the window shuts, but it’s better to wait until the summer than to do something rash. We don’t want a repeat of the Joao Felix situation.

The Guardian has just reported that Chelsea will only allow Armando Broja to leave in January if they sign a replacement striker.
