Chelsea spent £106.8m to sign Fernandez from Benfica 12 months ago before bringing in midfielder Caicedo from Brighton in a £115m deal this summer.
Despite spending heavily on players, Chelsea have not helped them on the pitch as the team has struggled since Pochettino’s arrival in May.
The Blues finished 12th in the Premier League last season but are only ninth after 21 games this season since Pochettino took over.
However, Fernandez defended his fellow player, as he told ESPN: “We need time, it’s a process with many new players.
‘The team has come together this year, it’s not easy to find a good way to play fast. But we will do our best to find this style as soon as possible.
“Every day with Pochettino is really good, he gets very close to the players.
“He is very human and gives us a lot of confidence and ease of play. “
Asked about his relationship with Ecuador international Caicedo Fernandez added: “Hello, we have created a strong bond.
“We have a great relationship off the pitch and the communication is different when it comes to playing – we know we understand each other at a glance.“.
