“I Fell in Love With a Racer”: Tony Stewart Opens Up About Wanting His Wife to Return to the Track — “That’s Who She Is, That’s the Woman I Love”
Racing legend Tony Stewart is never shy about his passion for motorsports, but this time, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is opening up about something even more personal — his deep admiration for his wife, drag racing star Leah Pruett, and his desire to see her back on the track.
In a recent heartfelt conversation, Stewart reflected on what drew him to Pruett in the first place.
“The reason I fell in love with her was because she was one of the best drag racers I’ve ever seen,” Stewart said. “It’s who she is. It’s part of her DNA.”
Leah Pruett, a standout in the NHRA Top Fuel scene, has taken time away from racing recently, focusing on other areas of life, including their growing family. But for Stewart, the sight of his wife dominating the drag strip is something he misses deeply.
“Seeing her away from it for a while now… it kind of makes me feel bad,” Stewart admitted. “That’s the fire I saw in her. I love seeing her in the hauler, in the pit, in her element. That’s where she shines.”
Stewart, who has expanded his own racing ventures to include drag racing, dirt track racing, and more, shared that while life off the track is precious, racing is something they both breathe. He even joked that maybe one day, their son Dominic Stewart might join them at the track, creating a true family legacy.
“Maybe Dominic will be hanging out in the hauler too one day. I’d love that. But right now, I just want to see Leah back doing what she loves. That’s where she belongs.”
Fans are buzzing with excitement at the possibility of Pruett’s return, especially after Stewart’s public encouragement. Whether she steps back into the driver’s seat soon or not, it’s clear that Stewart’s support runs deep — as a husband, a fan, and a racer who understands what it means to miss the adrenaline of the starting line.
This isn’t just a racing story — it’s a love story built on horsepower, passion, and mutual respect.
