With an outstanding 33-19 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on the road, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens made a significant advancement toward clinching the #1 seed in the AFC.
With two touchdowns and 252 yards after completing 23 of 35 ball attempts, the quarterback had an incredible day. In addition, he ran for 45 yards on seven carries, confounding the renowned 49ers defense.
NFL analyst Mike Florio was taken aback by the Ravens’ resounding victory. He had stated the following in his game preview:
“I apologize for being disrespectful to the Ravens, but let’s be honest. The 49ers (are going to) kick the s**** out of them. The 49ers will take the Ravens apart. The Super Bowl will be awful if this is a preview.
During the press conference following the game, Jackson chastised him for the offensive remarks. Florio apologized on X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter.
However, the seasoned analyst acknowledged the Ravens’ performance in the PFT Live with Mike Florio podcast on Tuesday:
“This notion that ‘if you hadn’t stated what you said, what you predicted would have happened, would have happened,’ is ingrained in the animosity toward my forecast. “So, are you saying, ‘Thank you?'”
MVP to go to Lamar Jackson? Ravens quarterback seems unfazed by the potential
Lamar Jackson’s standout performance has caused the Ravens quarterback to surge to the top of the MVP standings, along with Brock Purdy’s four-interception night, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys’ defeat to the Miami Dolphins, and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jackson downplayed the rumors about his potential candidacy and stated that his main goal is to support the Ravens as much as possible. The quarterback went on to say that neither the Ravens nor he performed well in the 2019 postseason after winning the MVP award. One practice, day, week, and game at a time is how he approaches things.
Although Jackson might not care about the honor, the Ravens star will surely win it if the team defeats the Dolphins in Week 17. More significantly, it will guarantee the Ravens home-field advantage and a first-round bye in the postseason.
In Week 18, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have a huge game ahead of them.
