Sale of 22 year old striker is not logical if Chelsea want summer transfer of elite options

Chelsea’s attempts to sell Armando Broja just don’t add up

They’ve been without Nicolas Jackson for a month and Broja is the main guy now. He will start regularly and hope to get some wickets as well. The club would like to improve, but it seems an uphill task at the moment.

But all this does not prevent links with other clubs. A piece by Jacob Steinberg in the Guardian yesterday claimed that Wolves are the latest team to be interested in the striker.

Steinberg adds that signing Broja for Wolves is dependent on the Blues bringing in a new striker. Here’s the problem. There are

Elite options available this summer and we are already struggling to get FFP numbers. Spending deeper into a hole in January seems like a bad idea by any stretch of the imagination. We don’t have goals, but we can hope that Jackson comes back and continues to improve.

The second half of the season can be painful, but ditching Brojan for an uncertain replacement soon seems like an unnecessary risk..
