Neil Robertson admitted that wearing a tight waistcoat prompted him to “sort my diet out” and lose some weight in order to improve his table tennis form. The Australian has had a difficult season and has taken time away from snooker to “reset” mentally.
Robertson reached the last 16 of a rankings event for the first time this season at the German Masters, but the 2010 world champion may fall out of the top 16 rankings. He has had a recent resurgence and followed up his success in Berlin with a win in Group 4 of the invitational Championship League.
The 42-year-old hopes to return to his best and opened up about how a dietary change behind the scenes could be.
Fueling a comeback. Robertson admitted that this season’s waistcoat felt tighter than previous ones, so he worked hard to lose weight and feel more comfortable in the outfit.
“I just had to sort my diet out,” Robertson told the World Snooker Tour. “After my season of 18 months or two years ago, I may have become complacent and lazy. I believe we took four or five months off, which is a long time, and I just never felt physically well.
