Revealed: Crystal Palace want new midfielder ‘now’ Spurs blow away
Sources: Crystal Palace meet Blackburn Rovers’Wharton insists – they both want him ‘now’
Crystal Palace do not want to loan Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton back to the Championship club, sources have told Football Insider.
The Croydon club have already seen an £18.5m bid rejected and are ready to come back with another bid.
Blackburn do not want to lose the teenager this month and are holding out for £25m – and they also want to see Wharton back on loan at Ewood Park for the rest of the season.
The Lancashire side are struggling for form and are nine points above the Championship relegation zone.
However, a well-placed source told Football Insider that Palace want Wharton to come “now” and do not want to send him back on loan.
Roy Hodgson’s side are in desperate need of first-year players as they try to get back into the Premier League.
Cheick Doucoure suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury last year and could be out until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Wharton just signed a new long-term deal with Ewood Park last month, keeping him at the club until June 2028.
He has made 29 appearances this season – scoring two goals and providing three assists.
The teenager made a total of 51 appearances for his boyhood club following his first-team breakthrough in the 2022-23 season.
Crystal Palace are 15th in the Premier League table amid speculation over Hodgson’s future..
