Spurs set on finalizing a deal for 62 goals striker after club drastically reduces asking price

Jonathan David has been one of the players linked with a move to Spurs as a Harry Kane replacement since the summer.

Tottenham even approached the French side to discuss a move for him but were slapped with a €60m asking price which is seemingly the release clause in his contract.

But as per il Gazzetta dello Sport, Lille have now slashed their asking price to €40m following his underwhelming performances this season.

As per the report, the news comes as a major boost for Spurs as they are now ‘preparing an approach‘ to bring him to North London.

Jonathan David’s impressive performance last season, where he scored 26 goals across all competitions attracted interest from several clubs. He signed for Lille in 2020 and since then has made 136 appearances for them, scoring 62 goals and assisting 11.

Tottenham need players to bolster their thin squad to address several positions.

While the defense and midfield are considered priorities, Spurs also need with another attacker.

Manor Solomon and Perisic are out injured and Richarlison is injured as well as struggling with form.

They signed Brennan Johnson but that is not enough specially considering they will be without skipper and star attacker Heung-min Son for a month during the Asian Cup in January.
