Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has spoken about Chelsea’s rumored interest in him.
Reporter Nathan Gissing recently claimed that Chelsea were discussing a possible move for Jhon Duran this month.
The 20-year-old was asked about Chelsea’s interest by Win Sports and said it would be a pleasure to play for the Blues, as Win Sports reporter Pipe Sierra relayed his words to X.
Duran won. Villa played 14 matches in the Premier League this season and scored twice.
The Villans completed an £18m deal (BBC Sport) for Duran from Chicago Fire last January.
Jhon Duran dreams of Chelsea
Duran says it would be a dream to play for Chelsea, although the Colombian insists he is not aware of interest from Villa’s Premier League rivals.
He told Win Sports: “I’m at Aston Villa. I’m not aware of any interest from AC Milan or Chelsea. They’re huge clubs and it would be a pleasure, but I don’t know anything. As a child you dream of playing there.“
Stamford Bridge remains an attractive destination for players
Chelsea are currently struggling and are likely to miss out on Champions League football again as Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently ninth in the Premier League table.
However, Duran’s words show that Blues still has its appeal.
They also managed to sign Moises Caicedo from Liverpool last summer despite a lack of European football, so it’s clear that Chelsea still have the allure of a big club. And based on his recent words, it looks like Duran could easily be lured to West London this month.
The Colombia international could face Pochettino when Villa meet them in the FA Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge next Friday..
