Crystal Palace are considering a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

A bid of around £18.5m from Palace was rejected on Thursday and Rovers have asked to keep Wharton on loan.

Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson said: “The offer came and the club said no, which I like”

The 19-year-old, who has been with the club since he was six, signed a deal in December that will keep him at Blackburn until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Already making his senior debut in August 2022, Wharton has made 51 appearances for the club, scoring two goals in all but two Championship games this season.

The Blackburn academy graduate, who made his England and U20 debut against Italy in November, has also been described by Blackburn director of football Gregg Broughton as England’s next best player outside the top flight.
