Update-Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise’s decision

Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise would prefer a move to Erik ten Hahand’s team over Chelsea.

The 22-year-old almost joined Chelsea in the summer after they met his £35million release clause but opted to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park.

The Palace striker has signed a four-year deal with The Eagles and it is understood that the terms of a new release clause have been added to the renewed deal.

While the exact amount of the new release clause is not yet known, it is likely to be significantly higher than the £35m clause in his old contract.

A new release clause is expected to be activated in the summer. football.london reports that Man United are monitoring Olis, who is currently sidelined with injury.

The report adds that Olise will leave Selhurst Park at the end of this season and while Chelsea remain interested in his services, the winger would prefer a move to Old Trafford instead.

While Liverpool and Arsenal have previously been linked with potential moves for the Palace winger, Chelsea and Man United appear to be at the forefront of the transfer battle at the moment.

Olise was part of Chelsea’s academy between the ages of 7 and 14, but is a lifelong supporter of The Red Devils.

United are expected to be on the lookout for a new full-back in the summer as Jadon Sancho leaves the club permanently following a public spat with Ten Hag last year.

Antony is another who could be cut after failing to reach the heights expected during his time in Manchester.

United have struggled in attack this season, with midfielder Scott McTominay currently leading the way with five goals.

Despite limited playing time this season, Olise has managed five goals in just nine league games and is the team’s second top scorer behind Odsonne Edouard with six.

The France under-21 arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer of 2021 on a five-year deal for a fee of around £8.3m from Reading.

The winger has made 72 Premier League appearances for The Eagles since his arrival, scoring nine goals and providing 17 assists during his time in London..
