RYNER SWANSON: HERE’S WHY I DECIDED TO DECOMMIT FROM BYU TO JOIN THE FLORIDA GATORS….read more……
Highly-touted tight end Ryner Swanson has announced his decision to decommit from BYU and flip his commitment to the University of Florida. The move comes as a surprise to many in the college football world, as Swanson had previously been solid in his commitment to the Cougars.
Swanson, a 4-star recruit from Laguna Beach, California, originally chose BYU over offers from top programs including Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Florida. However, after further reflection and ongoing conversations with family and coaches, he has decided that Gainesville is the best fit for his future — both athletically and personally.
“I have nothing but respect for BYU and everything they’ve done for me through the recruiting process,” Swanson said in a statement. “But after a lot of thought, prayer, and discussions with my family, I feel like Florida offers me the best opportunity to grow, compete in the SEC, and prepare for the next level.”
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end is expected to be a key addition to the Gators’ offense under head coach Billy Napier. With his combination of size, speed, and versatility, Swanson will look to make an immediate impact once he arrives on campus.
Florida fans have already begun celebrating the addition, while BYU supporters have expressed disappointment but wished Swanson the best in his journey.
Swanson’s flip is the latest in a series of high-profile recruiting changes across college football as national signing day approaches.
